Top Three Takeaways from March 8 Media Panel Discussion

TOP TAKEAWAYS FROM THE MARCH 11 MEDIA PANEL WEBINAR

Our March 11 webinar was a media panel discussion featuring Tonya Strong-Charles, Executive Producer at Spectrum News 1; Rosalie Murphy, Editor at The Devil Strip; Sarah Taylor, Digital and Broadcast Editor at 89.7 FM WKSU; and Cheryl Powell-Fuller, Metro Editor at the Akron Beacon Journal. Their insights were rich, helpful and informative.

1. Email is still the best way to pitch stories; avoiding video calls is appreciated; send emails to both specific reporter and the general newsroom email. B-roll is appreicated (landscape mode only).

2. Be best at telling your story first. If you have an expert quoted in your release, make sure that person is available for comment/interview should the reporter want to follow up on your story.

3. Spectrum News is statewide, meaning they are looking for stories that cover all communities in Ohio. Tonya Charles-Strong wants to hear ALL the pitches!

If you want to hear all the tips and advice from this hour-long media panel discussion in it's entirety, it is available for $5. Email [email protected] for details.
